A Strategic Framework for 2023-2028

The UC Irvine Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing has undergone nine months of strategic planning that included faculty, staff, and advisory board retreats, strengths-weaknesses-opportunities-and-threats analyses by multiple groups, and listening sessions with students, alumni, and other key stakeholders. The data from these sources were overlaid onto the findings of international and national reports on nursing, healthcare, and higher education. The result is With Humanity in Mind: A Strategic Framework for 2023-2028.

We invite you to share your thoughts on the document and the path it charts for the future of the Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing. A final version of the document will be released later this summer.

With Humanity in Mind

Our school’s strategic framework is based on our manifesto – our statement of belief. From this statement, we derived four pillars that frame ten intentions. These intentions stand as guides for our actions as a nursing school. These intentions logically lead to ten strategic priorities. When we look back over the five years, the ultimate measure of achieving these priorities will not be whether we checked boxes saying that we accomplished each priority. Rather, it will be whether we lived our intentions. The ultimate measure of achieving our strategic priorities will be whether we did what we did with humanity in mind.
