Nominate an outstanding BS or MEPN nursing student for a DAISY Award!

The DAISY Award honors exceptional care and compassion in nursing. The award celebrates the critical nurse-patient relationship, emphasizing the impact of nurses’ empathy and connection on healthcare. It inspires nursing students by highlighting examples of extraordinary compassion, reinforcing why they pursued nursing and the crucial role of nurses in patient care.

About the Award

Eligibility Criteria:

Nominees must be graduating Bachelor of Science (BS) or Master’s Entry Program in Nursing (MEPN) students who consistently demonstrate all of the following criteria:

  • Provides compassionate, respective, and empathetic care for patients and their families.
  • Serves as an advocate supporting patients and families to meet their unique needs
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing mission of championing collaborative, compassionate, and interdisciplinary evidence-based practice.

Nomination Process:

The eligible nursing student must be nominated by a fellow student, staff, faculty member, or community member with relationship to UCI or UCI Health affiliates through our online nomination form.

May 24, 2024

Selection Committees:

The Daisy Award Committee comprised of faculty and staff from the Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing.

Presentation of Awards:

Award recipients are announced at the spring pinning ceremony.
