UC Irvine’s Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing’s 5-minute 41-second segment will start airing nationwide in October and run for one year. It showcases the school’s growth from a small program in 1995 to a comprehensive institution offering bachelor, master, and doctoral degree programs. The project highlights the school’s focus on instilling core values like social, racial, and environmental justice, as well as its commitment to using advanced technologies like AI to enhance health, ultimately preparing students to be leaders, researchers, and policy influencers. Students are also taught to understand patients’ personal aspirations and contextual needs, aiming for a holistic approach to healthcare. This comprehensive training ensures that graduates are not only proficient clinicians but also advocates for systemic improvements and equitable health outcomes.

This growth has enabled the school to continually attract outstanding faculty. It also opens extensive opportunities for students, who are encouraged to engage in community programs and professional organizations, laying a strong foundation for their future careers.

“This video project is important to share with the community as it highlights the indispensable role of nurses in society, the comprehensive and compassionate nursing education provided by the UC Irvine Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing,” said Dean Mark Lazenby. “We are also hoping it inspires prospective students to join the nursing profession and fulfill and important societal role.”
