Senior Associate Dean, Susanne Phillips, was honored as a Distinguished Educator by the Greater Irvine Chamber on November 16.
Her nomination noted: “While many healthcare providers were recognized for heroic ‘front-line’ contributions during the battle against coronavirus, Dr. Phillips took the call to service to a new level — providing clinical and academic leadership to UCI Health to establish UCI’s first drive-thru screening clinic, in only four days’ time. Under her continued support and leadership, the highly dedicated team also organized additional sites to meet community needs during the health crisis. In recognition of her academic career and continued service to patients, Dr. Phillips was recognized with a Hero of the Pandemic Service to Humanity Award in 2022 from Celebration of Heroes, and also as UC Irvine Dean’s Honoree for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching in 2020.”
The Greater Irvine Chamber celebrates Irvine’s world-class education as part of what helps the city live up to its promise as a model master-planned community and its ability to sustain economic vitality by ensuring a continued skilled workforce. Through its Distinguished Educators program, the Chamber recognizes exemplary Irvine educators and programs that have contributed to the educational process through direct student involvement or partnership activities.
