Assistant Professor Jung In Park inducted as a Fellow of the American Medical Informatics Association (FAMIA)
Jung In Park has been inducted as a Fellow of the American Medical Informatics Association (FAMIA), recognizing her achievements in Applied Clinical Informatics. FAMIA recognizes AMIA member professionals who apply informatics skills and knowledge towards the goals of enhanced personal and population health, improved organizational performance and learning, and individual empowerment in healthcare. Fellows apply informatics skills and knowledge within their professional setting, demonstrate professional achievement and leadership, and contribute to the betterment of AMIA.
Park’s research focuses on health informatics using large health data from multiple sources and machine learning. Park collaborates with other experts at UCI to improve health outcomes of patients and predict adverse events using big data analytics.
Her research and service span more than 10 years and her latest study looks at the significant disparities in cancer outcomes that persist among different racial and ethnic groups in the US. This study successfully developed algorithms to capture the breast cancer treatment outcomes of women from underrepresented populations from clinical notes, to then provide individualized symptom management and nursing care planning.
