The UCI Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing’s Master’s Entry Program in Nursing (MEPN) is one of the country’s top 42 graduate nursing programs, according to the 2023 rankings released by U.S. News & World Report.
Among public universities, the program is ranked 27th in the nation. It is currently in its sixth year.
The MEPN is for individuals with a bachelor’s degree in another discipline who want to pursue a career in nursing. At UCI, it is a two-year program with a concentration on community health.
U.S. News surveyed 601 nursing schools with master’s or doctoral programs accredited by either the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education or the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing.
In total, 254 nursing programs responded to the U.S. News nursing statistical data collection survey sent in fall 2021 and early 2022.
“UCI’s nursing programs receive recognition for their innovative and challenging curriculum. With an eye on health equity, the teaching faculty continue to grow the school’s programs and are dedicated to ensuring our students graduate prepared to provide compassionate care to patients who live in marginalized communities,” says Dean Mark Lazenby.
“Many of these faculty care for people in these communities as well, marrying the gift of teaching with the adventure of practice.”
