Miriam Bender

Miriam Bender received her PhD in Nursing Science in May 2013 from the University of San Diego Hahn School of Nursing and Health Science, and joined the UCI Program in Nursing Science as an Assistant Professor in November 2014. Dr. Bender’s research focuses on the relationships between the organization of care delivery, multi-professional practice dynamics, and patient care quality and safety outcomes.

UCI Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing Professor Miriam Bender, PhD, RN, CNL was recently recognized by two peer-reviewed journals for the notability of her work. The Journal of Advanced Nursing (JAN) recognized Dr. Bender for authoring one of the most highly-cited articles of the publication in 2017.

Dr. Bender’s paper, “Refining and validating a conceptual model of Clinical Nurse Leader integrated care delivery,” appeared in the February 2017 issue of JAN. In addition, the journal Nursing Philosophy lauded Dr. Bender for having one of the journals top 20 most downloaded papers in the 12 months post-publication. Her article, “Models versus theories as primary carrier of nursing knowledge: A philosophical argument” appears in the January 2018 issue of Nursing Philosophy.
