Biography
Dr. Michelle Fortier is a pediatric psychologist by training and an expert in pediatric pain and community-engaged research approaches. She is the Co-Director of the UCI Center on Stress & Health, a multidisciplinary research center in the School of Medicine located at CHOC Children’s Hospital, that has a focus on family-centered behavioral and technological approaches to address pain, anxiety, and quality of life in children and families in healthcare settings. Dr. Fortier is on medical staff in the Department of Pediatric Psychology at CHOC and works with trainees across disciplines in her research program. She has an active, extramurally, funded program of research focused on palliative care in the context of pediatric oncology and a strong focus on participatory research methods aimed at minimizing cancer health disparities in psychosocial outcomes among Spanish-speaking families impacted by childhood cancer.
