UCI-HBCU Summer Research Program
The UCI-HBCU Summer Research Program helps prepare HBCU students for graduate school, by providing coaching in self-care practices, facilitating participation in research activities with a UCI nursing faculty mentor, giving opportunities to attend professional development seminars, and offering support as students prepare their graduate school applications in the year following the summer program.
Nursing Summer Camp
At the Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing, we are highly aware of society’s increased need for nurses in the coming years and decades, and we want to be proactive and innovative in our leadership to fill that need. To help facilitate a pipeline of future nurses, we introduced Nursing Camp in Summer at UC Irvine (NCIS: UCI) for high school students in 2017. NCIS: UCI provides a hands-on introduction to the many types of nursing for students who are interested in exploring nursing as a career. This early exposure to nursing can make a big difference in whether a student applies directly to a nursing school out of high school.
