The unit for Philosophical Nursing Research (uPNR) exists to promote a careful and thoughtful approach to issues of relevance to nursing practice, education, and research. Derek Sellman is the director of the unit and is currently also a member of the Center for Nursing Philosophy steering committee. The unit also sponsors the bi-annual Philosophy in the Nurse’s World conference.

The research group brings together scholars from a range of academic disciplines to research philosophical and ethical aspects of professional practice. Based in the Three Counties School of Nursing and Midwifery, we aim to engage with all professional practice, including healthcare, the law and police.
