The broad purpose of the International Philosophy of Nursing Society (IPONS) is to bring individuals from different countries into an international network to promote and support the growing discipline of philosophy of nursing. The society is associated with an annual conference and the journal Nursing Philosophy. Check out their news and updates!
Nursing Inquiry is an international peer-reviewed Journal of interest to nurses, health care professionals, social scientists and health policymakers on ideas and issues pertaining to nursing and healthcare. Established as a vehicle for critical reflection and substantive dialogue on topics of emerging interest internationally, it aims to foster debate and dialogue, advance new conceptualizations, and challenge current thought on a wide range of nursing and health phenomena. The Journal publishes original research, discussion papers, review articles and commentaries on topics consistent with its aims and scope.
Nursing Philosophy is an international peer-reviewed journal that provides a premiere forum for discussion of philosophical issues in nursing. These focus on questions relating to the nature of nursing and to the phenomena of key relevance to it. Many Center for Nursing Philosophy members have published in this journal. Check it out!
The unit for Philosophical Nursing Research (uPNR) exists to promote a careful and thoughtful approach to issues of relevance to nursing practice, education, and research. Derek Sellman is the director of the unit and is currently also a member of the Center for Nursing Philosophy steering committee. The unit also sponsors the bi-annual Philosophy in the Nurse’s World conference.
The research group brings together scholars from a range of academic disciplines to research philosophical and ethical aspects of professional practice. Based in the Three Counties School of Nursing and Midwifery, we aim to engage with all professional practice, including healthcare, the law and police.
The UCI Center for Knowledge, Technology and Society is devoted to research that approaches epistemological questions from an applied and interdisciplinary angle, with a particular focus on the application of epistemology to technological and societal issues.
