California Board of Registered Nursing

All nursing programs of study are authorized and approved by the Academic Senate of the University of California and the California Board of Registered Nursing. The UC Irvine Academic Senate’s Undergraduate and Graduate Councils conduct curricular oversight and periodic reviews.

Western Association of Schools and Colleges

UC Irvine is a member of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and is fully accredited by the WASC Senior Commission of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WSCUC), California’s regional accrediting agency.

Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education

The Bachelor of Science, the Master’s Entry Program in Nursing (MEPN), and the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Program at the UCI Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

Society for Simulation in Healthcare

What does accreditation mean?

Accreditation is a mark of quality. Accreditation ensures a program’s educational processes and outcomes are congruent and that the faculty review the processes and outcomes and make changes when indicated.

What are the benefits of attending an accredited nursing program?

Graduating from an accredited nursing program is required by a majority of graduate nursing programs for admission to most master’s level and higher degree nursing programs. Accreditation assures quality nursing education that meets professional standards.
