The UC Irvine Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing Center for Nursing Philosophy was honored to sponsor a virtual presentation titled “Confusing moral judgment with ethical assessment in addressing racial conflict” featuring Frank B. Wilderson III, Chancellor’s Professor in the UC Irvine African American Studies Department.
He spoke about the first principles of Afropessimism. He was joined by Dr. Dawn Bounds, who is a mental health nurse practitioner and assistant professor at the nursing school, to discuss how these first principles can be used on an ethical scale to “break apart” the acceptance of racism as a “problem” that has a “solution.”
