Associate Professor Melissa Pinto has been named as the editor in chief of the international journal Clinical Nursing Research (CNR): An International Journal.
As editor, Pinto will lead a team of editors and editorial review board members to evaluate all manuscript submissions, select those suitable for peer review and consider the reviewers’ guidance to make publication decisions.
“Nurses around the world need access to clinically relevant research findings. Clinical Nursing Research seeks to do just that. The Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing is proud that Associate Professor Pinto has been elected the journal’s editor-in-chief,” says Mark Lazenby, dean and professor at the school.
The journal publishes internationally peer-reviewed articles eight times a year focusing on the practice of nursing, addressing topics of clinical research relevant to practicing nurses, students, applied an behavioral scientists across disciplines who conduct clinical research relevant to nursing science.
The international review process includes commentary by referees on continents other than that of the article’s author(s). Referees examine the use of the findings in their own environments and identify possible cultural biases or healthcare issues that could make the findings less universally applicable.
Unique to the journal are replication studies, which replicate existing research, compare the findings and provide important information to clinicians who seek to introduce research findings into their practice.
The journal is published by Sage Publishing, a global academic book and journal publisher.
