Abstract

The purpose of this Open Mind article is to describe an exciting opportunity for a new conceptual framework and cultural adaptation to be adapted to the perioperative settings, ad become an important tool for managing surgical disparities in children undergoing surgery and their families. the article will briefly review the constructs of surgical disparity and cultural adaptation, and then describe a case study involving the cultural adaptation of a mobile health intervention in the management of anxiety and pain in Latinx children undergoing surgery, as well as their families.
