UC Irvine school of nursing student vina heng class of 2025It’s back-to-school month at UCI! Meet incoming Anteater and future nurse Vina Heng, class of 2025.

Why do you want to be a baccalaureate-prepared nurse?

I want to be a baccalaureate-prepared registered nurse because of the nurses who assisted me during my time of need and fragility, as well as for my mother, who has made great sacrifices over the years.

Inspired, I strive to give back as much as I can and want the face-to-face interaction with patients that I experienced during my hospital stays.

Why did you choose UCI School of Nursing?

I chose UCI School of Nursing because of the focus and emphasis on compassion to instill in a new generation of nurses. While initially researching nursing schools, I found it inspiring how much this program grew and I saw its innovation and potential.

Aside from the program, the campus and culture of UCI is what I looked for in my dream campus. The safe neighborhoods and location sealed the deal for me to choose UCI School of Nursing.

What’s one fun fact about you?

I love playing video games and building mechanical keyboards! I love all things tech-related.
