About this Event:

The third annual UCI Nursing Symposium brings the Orange County nursing community together to focus on cutting-edge topics and issues. This year, the focus is “Leading by example: the role of the nurse in advancing healthcare delivery.” The keynote speaker is Laurie Ecoff, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, CNL. All sessions feature recognized experts in the field of nursing and beyond. Sessions are designed to promote a participatory environment and include hands-on interactive learning workshops and interactive poster sessions.

The symposium will include a full day of presentations, posters, and breakout sessions at the UC Irvine Campus Student Center. Eight (8) CEUs will be provided for the event; more information about the CEUs to be announced.

Keynote Address: Nurses leading a culture of research: frameworks, practices, and implications for healthcare delivery
Date: Wednesday, June 10, 2020
Time: 8:00AM – 4:45 PM (Breakfast and Lunch will be provided)
Location: UCI Campus Student Center
Fees: $75 registration fee includes breakfast and lunch. Course fees will increase to $100 after May 15, 2020.
Student Discount: Students enrolled in a nursing program will receive a $15 discount if they register by May 14. Please send student ID to schoolofnursingnews@hs.uci.edu to take advantage of the reduced registration fee.

Laurie Ecoff, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, CNL

Terrence and Barbara Caster Institute for Nursing Excellence
Sharp HealthCare

Laurie Ecoff is the Vice President of the Terrence and Barbara Caster Institute for Nursing Excellence, Sharp HealthCare. In this role, she oversees the strategic plan to advance the profession of nursing to achieve exemplary patient, nursing and organizational outcomes. Dr. Ecoff received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing and Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing from the University of San Diego. Additionally, she received a Master’s of Science in Nursing Administration from San Diego State University.

Dr. Ecoff is a founding member and one of the lead faculty for the Consortium for Nursing Excellence in San Diego, a San Diego community collaborative that offers an annual Evidence-Based Practice Institute. Dr. Ecoff is also a Clinical Professor in the Clinical Nursing and Executive Nurse Leader Programs at the University of San Diego.

Dr. Ecoff is an on-site evaluator for the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and a lead appraiser for the American Nurses Credentialing Center Practice Transition Accreditation Program. Dr. Ecoff is actively involved in the Association of California Nurse Leaders and has served on the statewide board and has been president of the San Diego chapter. She assumed the president-elect role for the state organization in February 2020.
