Nursing Dean Mark Lazenby was officially welcomed to the UCI Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing with a reception at the UCI Health Gavin Herbert Eye Institute on Thursday, Feb. 24.
New and longtime friends and supporters of the nursing school, leadership from the Susan and Henry Samueli College of Health Sciences, and nursing school current and retired faculty, alumni, students and staff were on hand to celebrate the beginning of a new chapter for the school.
After an introduction by Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs Steve Goldstein, Lazenby shared his vision for the school. Despite the challenging times we find ourselves in, he said, these are also times of great promise.
“As uncertain as these times are, it’s a time of opportunity. The next big thing is nurses who go out and change the world.”
