A Message from the Founding Dean

Dean Adey Nyamathi

It’s hard to believe we have entered into the month of May and summer is just around the corner. As the academic year comes to an end, I look back with great pride at the accomplishments made by many of our faculty and students.

Over the last year, the Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing has been growing, specifically in new faculty and funded research. Community-based research grants are being awarded and submitted, leading to incredible results in our communities, both locally and globally.

More of our exciting success is captured in this edition of our newsletter. Here you will learn about the passion of a student in our Master’s Entry Program in Nursing (MEPN) who is giving back and changing the lives of low-income families. I will also share how thrilled we are to announce the approval of the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree program, and how we are the first and only nursing school in the entire University of California system to offer a DNP degree with a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) concentration. Further, you will read how very proud we are of our very first Annual UCI Nursing Symposium, where we will feature presentations by internationally recognized experts in the field of nursing.

I invite you to read through our newsletter to learn more about our School’s accolades. Please visit School’s news and events and connect with us on our Facebook page.
